*Len prve dva po cesky, zvysok po anglicky. Prijemne tulanie...
- Spolecnost Pratel Dila J.R.R.Tolkiena. Velmi pekna stranka obsahujuca predovsetkym informacie o Spolocnosti a jej aktivitach, ale i odkazy (vratane hier a MUDov s tolkienovskou tematikou).
- The J.R.R.Tolkien Information Page. The most concise list of Tolkien pages world-wide. There are links to home pages, articles, conferences, fonts, family trees, games, graphics, chat, mailing lists and newsgroups, music, parodies, periodicals and societies, all in some way related to Tolkien or Middle-earth.
- Frequently Asked Questions (part 1 and part 2)and Less Frequently Asked Questions by William D. B. Loos in plain text. Also available in hypertext. Answers to questions such as Were the languages presented in 'The Lord of the Rings' real languages?, Who or what was Tom Bombadil? , or What became of the Entwives?
- The Lidless Eye An enormous image archive (over 350 images by 32 different artists). Pictures (high-quality scans) of artwork from all major Tolkien artists, as well as numerous maps and book covers. Definitely worth visiting - you will come back.
- The Electronic Tolkien Encyclopedia Project.
A project (under construction) featuring encyclopedia of names, places, things, and events which are the substance of Tolkien's fiction as well as essays and articles concerning Tolkien's written work. What I would recommend to your attention is the essay One Ring to Rule them All by David Harvey (a treatise on the One Ring).
- Parma Endorion - Essays On Middle-earth. Michael Martinez's essays dealing with geography and history of Arda, peoples of Arda (including Elves, Men, Orcs, Northmen and Hobbits), and other interesting subjects, such as Wonders of Middle-earth or Planning the Middle-earth Wedding.
- newsgroups:
rec.arts.books.tolkien and alt.fan.tolkien Of these two I would recommend the first one, although the messages are often the same in both newsgroups. The subjects discussed here are of less serious nature (in comparison to the mailing lists).
- mailing lists:
- Tolkien mailing-list This can be at times a *very* lively list. Listmembers are true experts in the field. Topics touch almost any aspect of Tolkien's life and work. The discussions are intense but polite; information is exact and reliable; the overall atmosphere of the list is extremely frank and friendly. It is a pleasure to be a member of this list. To join send mail with the subject "SUBSCRIBE TOLKIEN yourname" to listproc@listproc.hcf.jhu.edu. The archives contain not only log files of messages (for the most part searchable), but also FAQ in plain text, booklists (books by and about Tolkien), information on Tolkien societies and journals, and more.
- TolkLang mailing-list Dedicated to discussion of Tolkien's invented languages as well as his academic interest in linguistics and languages of the real world. Topics are often specificially linguistic in their nature and discussed on an academic level.
